Why We Should All Be Proud of Our School Uniform

How many of us have brought our school uniforms to school? It doesn’t matter if you’re in Kindergarten or Senior year, school uniform is an integral part of every school system in the world. How else would students get to school with their clean, crisp, freshly pressed school uniforms? I know I’m not the only one who loves my school uniform and how it makes me feel when I see my school uniform. You may even be taking photos of your school uniform when it’s in your school uniform photos.

I’m also an advocate for having a school uniform.

Here’s why.

1. Protection from Bullying

We all know bullying is real and it happens.

We’ve seen it on television, we’ve seen it happen in our lives and we’ve heard stories from people who have experienced it first hand. Bullying takes many different forms and it is a huge problem in our society. Bullying has been around forever, but we’ve learned how to address it more in recent times. However, you don’t have to do this alone. If you are a victim of bullying, speak up! Always keep a written record and if there is an adult around you, make sure they are aware of what is going on.

I know many of you have heard of the “4 P’s” of bullying:

Prevention,

Prosecution,

Protection and

Positive Reinforcement.

This method of addressing bullying is what keeps me going in the face of all the terrible things I have had to see on TV and in the news. This is the way we are going to stop this, and if anyone is bullying you, there are a variety of resources and systems in place for the perpetrator to be dealt with. Please know that you are not alone in this.

2. Staying Safe

If you are in school, you should be staying safe. There are a lot of dangers out there, and some of them are more hidden than others. School uniform helps with keeping kids safe in a variety of ways.

Some people may think that if kids wear school uniforms that it would be safe for them to walk or bike to school, but this is false. In fact, there are many dangers along the way.
