Any time a filter is applied to a periodic signal, we are going to see frequency components that fall into the band of the filter that are “folded back”.
For example, for a first order lowpass filter, if we applied a filter to the result of sampling a sine wave at sample rate fs, we would be folding back frequencies of fs/2 and below.

In your case, you are applying a highpass filter. That means if you are sampling at fs/2, we will be folding back frequencies of fs/4. And if you don’t use a freqlistener to judge how far the folded back frequencies fall within your audible bandwidth, you will see them.

If you do not want to see the folded back frequencies, you will have to apply a freqlistener and cut them out. Or if you don’t want them in your musical composition, you can apply a bandpass filter to selectively filter out the folded back frequencies.
