The next concept we will cover is the infrastructure that connects the nodes. Within a single node, there are numerous communication devices that are found. Each node typically has its own memory, Ethernet controller, and instruction and data cache, as well as a processor and a communication device.
You may notice that there is a specific distinction between these communication devices and the processor itself. This is intentional, as all communication devices are functions of a processor. For example, a processor always communicates with a memory, and a processor always communicates with a network adapter. While the network adapter communicates with the communication network, it is not actually the chip that sends and receives data on the network, it is the processor. The Intel® Cluster Studio development toolkit (referred to as “Intel Cluster Studio” in the rest of the paper) includes the following main components:
Intel Cluster Studio main window has been divided into five parts:
1. Administration window;
2. Project window;
3. File system window;
4. Command-line interface for processor inspection;
5. Benchmark window.
The administration window is used to perform common operations. The general properties are stored in the project window. The execution environment settings of the project are stored in the file system window. The project location is stored in the benchmark window. The command-line interface is used to perform a CPU profile inspection.
